DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
PREAMBLE:
Our school association has been blessed by a loving and supportive community
which continues to give our school(s) the strength it needs to equip students
with knowledge and wisdom for service in God’s world. God has entrusted us with
so much. He gave us this world to tend and care for, He gave us the resources to
provide Christian schools, He gave us our children to learn about Him and the
world they live in. Whether we are students, alumni, future parents, parents,
grandparents, church communities or business leaders, each one of us is a strand
in our community blanket. A blanket that is woven with many strands provides
strength and durability.
A strong organizational structure incorporating a Development Director
enables us to better serve our mission, fulfill our vision and achieve the goals
of establishing and nurturing life long supporters of Christian education.

Qualifications :
The qualified applicant will:
- Have the ability to clearly articulate the vision for Kitchener-Waterloo
Christian School Society
- Be a committed evangelical Christian, exhibiting a strong commitment to
Christian stewardship, and displaying a solid Christian lifestyle.
- Have a bachelors degree or equivalent with three years relevant
experience
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, self
motivation ability to recruit and work with volunteers, leadership ability
and belief in a team approach to mission-driven goals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software eg
Desktop publishing
- Be able to prioritise and manage a wide variety of tasks within a range
of broad objectives.
- Be familiar with the OACS governance structure and have a good
understanding of the roles of board, staff, and various administrative
committees.
- Be willing to work flexible hours (eg evenings and Saturday
workshops,conferences)

D Specific Responsibilities
These responsibilities have been grouped around 3 main areas, namely Public
Relations, Finance, and Structure.
Public Relations
- Informs the members of the school society and the Christian community
about the progress and needs of the school.
- Oversees the production of written materials such as brochures or
pamphlets, which are suitable for promotional purposes
- Submits articles and newsworthy items about the school in the Christian
and secular press and/or church bulletins.
- Will endeavour to continue and expand on involving alumni in School
life.
- Maintains close personal contact with pastors of the churches in the
area and keeps them informed about the school.
- Will actively seek out opportunities to speak at public meetings in
support of the school.
- Works closely with the principal in the promotion & recruitment of
students.
Finances
- Will work in tandem with the Finance Committee when the annual operating
budget is being prepared, and submits to the committee a detailed plan on
how to raise the necessary funds for short and long term needs.
- Ensures a current mailing list of current, and prospective members and
supporters is maintained together with mailing lists for Churches and other
organizations.
- Ensures (working with the bookkeeper) that accurate and current records
of all gifts are received, assuring that all donations are promptly
acknowledged and donors are appropriately thanked for their donations.
- Organizes and directs special drives for Capital projects, paying
special attention to the training and encouragement of volunteer workers.
- Actively promotes deferred giving programs, such as wills, annuities
trusts, and endowments – working closely with G.R.A.C.E.
- Pays special attention to keeping personal contact with major donors.
- On a regular basis, contact churches in the constituency soliciting both
financial and prayerful support.
- Will research & develop other areas of financing for the school.
Structure
- For the effective and harmonious functioning of the school, it is
clearly understood that the principal is the CAO and the position of DD is
subordinate to the principal. It is expected that the Principal and DD will
work together as a team to facilitate their individual and corporate
objectives.
- In educational matters, including student recruitment, the principal
(working with the Board ) is the final decision maker.
- In all other areas the DD is responsible to the Board .
