Tuition Reimbursement Policy (OACS Model)

LHCS Statement of Purpose

"We believe it is our responsibility as Christians to raise children in the light of God's Word. The education of children must be Christ-centered, equipping them to become responsive disciples of Christ who seek the will of the Lord in all aspects of life."

LHCS Mission Statement

"For the children of Christian parents, Laurentian Hills Christian School provides Christ-centered quality education to the whole child in a supportive, loving, diverse, dynamic and growing parent run school."

LHCS Vision Statement

"Kitchener-Waterloo Christian School Society advances dynamic, excellent Christ-centered education through unconstrained facilities, exceptional programs, and extensive resources that cultivate responsive disciples of Christ."

If students attending a Christian school leave of their own accord, are expelled, or transferred to a public school before the end of the school year, the tuition should be prorated. As a charity, the school society cannot demand payment of monies. On the other hand, because donations are voluntary, the parents cannot demand a "tuition refund" for the portion of the year the student did not attend the school.

If a student transfers from one Christian school to another, and the full tuition has already been paid to the first school society, the second school should not request a donation from that student’s family other than for membership fees. If the family pays theft pledge on a monthly basis, the tuition allocation issue is automatically resolved. In either case, the first school has budgeted for that student to attend for the full year, and the second school will incur very little, if any, additional expenses. It is therefore recommended that the second school honour any grant requests received from the first school. The grant request would cover the proportional share of the annual tuition.
